Thomson High School is reminding fans and visitors to plan for safety screening and parking procedures when attending home football games at The Brickyard this season. The 2026 home opener against the Academy of Richmond County is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 28 at 8 p.m. The later start time is part of the school’s response to recent high heat index and wet-bulb readings. According to the McDuffie County School System, parking is available in fields across from the stadium near the district office, beside the old gym and at the McDuffie Achievement Center. Overflow parking is available at Thomson First Methodist Church. Visitors are asked to use designated crosswalks. Fans should also expect entry screening that includes metal detectors. The school system says its sporting events follow a clear-bag policy aligned with Georgia High School Association guidelines. Residents attending future home games should check the school’s official information before leaving, since game times or procedures can change because of weather or other conditions.

What’s next

Thomson is also scheduled to host Warren County on Sept. 4 at 8 p.m. CSRA Local should recheck the school’s official page before that game for any updated safety, weather or scheduling information.
